A drizzly day and I'm heading out the door for a run with my girls. This has become routine, running especially having two Great Danes. It was not always that way. Even though running started young for me, first with soccer in grade seven and then to the school track and field team.
Today as I step out, I'm excited to see what bubbles up in me to become aware of and transform. Just recently my coach passed who had an impact on my whole life. For years I was haunted by my decision to stop training after high school that may have lead to a university scholarship. This was fuelled by a family at the time not supporting my running potential who saw it as threat against the family. how mich more scaricity mentality can younget? That moment, a part of me stopped dreaming and allowed my very drive of life to be extinguished. Literally a part of me died with me stopping my running dream which was really, be the best I can be at something.
I carried this sorrow with me as a failure to launch event in my life. Which spread like a virus in anything else I tried to do. It even kept me from having a relationship with my Coach, Charlie Scarrow who was the only man who truely was in my corner that was unconditional. Little did I relealize throughout these years what running and training really gave me!
Recently, running it came to me clearly that all my years of racing on the track that I had never gotten off the track. That my gruelling training with Charlie had engrained in me perseverance even when it was so painful you thought you would break, that being consistant does bring you results and the most important of all never give up, even when all odds are against you. Do not give up on yourself!
I have never gotten off the track in fact I have been training for my whole life to keep making a better me! That running has become a metaphor of moving through the old perceptions and beliefs that allows me to choose differently. I believe that running has provided me a well of courage and has saved me from a life of despair and depression. Now looking back running has always provided me an outlet of my worst feelings and circumstances to know I somehow can change this into a life of joy, happiness and triumph!
Now, I'm so grateful for being able to realize this and be this now. So I write this in hopes to inspire a thought in you to find what movement allows you to heal? That any form of exercise really does much more than tone the body, it is an outlet to express that which the mind has not been able to make sense of or have been able to access before. Just as founder of the daily love Mastin Kipp was asked by 20 Questions interview, How do you stay connected to your inner core of peace?
Exercise, eating an anti-inflammatory diet, Kundalini yoga and practicing gratitude for all of the small things in life.
Get connected to you by having your daily practice that supports a life of love while having vehicles to acknowledge, feel and let go everything else that is causing you and others pain.
